Ancient Chinese Proverb

Welcome to ‘Hope Matters Therapy’, my private practice. Since opening in 2014, many people have greatly valued this independent space.

With much experience as a BACP accredited Integrative counsellor, and additionally as a qualified Gestalt psychotherapist (UKCP Accredited), I offer professional therapeutic support to adults, teens (aged 12+), and couples looking for warm, yet confidential and professional therapy.

I enjoy supporting people in wide ranging issues, including:

  • challenging marital, family, or other, relationship difficulties
  • loss and bereavement
  • low self esteem and confidence
  • feeling stuck, finding it hard getting back on your feet

Any one of us can struggle with our mental health at times. This, and trauma, are areas I am especially passionate about working with, including, for example:

  • anxiety, stress, panic attacks, phobias, etc
  • depression
  • difficulties resulting from attachment issues, or trauma or abuse, e.g. post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); dissociation
  • monitoring medication prescribed for mental health reasons

Maybe, you’ve tried finding ways of coping with your problems, for example, by blaming others; avoiding the problem; or using addictive substances such as drugs, alcohol, food or self harming. These may have helped at first, but now you can see they are no longer working.

I believe that everyone has the resources necessary to be in healthy contact with others and to lead satisfying lives. I see the relationship between us as central to our work and that through this I can support you to new and more creative ways to resolve problems or crises you are experiencing.

I offer a confidential, warm space where you can feel heard, accepted and valued for who you are. I don’t have expectations of how you should look, be or of what you should bring and will always do my best to understand things from your perspective. I will never judge you and hope that as I try to understand things from your perspective, you will feel accepted and supported.

I am often told I have a deep level of empathy and understanding for others. This I believe comes partly from my own valued experiences of being in therapy, which has been a significant part of helping me work through tangles in my personal life journey.

If you feel ready to step out on your journey, then I look forward to hearing from you.

Warmly,

Felicity
